Since you wanted a mini city to be built, we demolished the eyesore house that was in our way!

And the demolitions continue in Easthampton MA! The 2nd demolition of 2023 for Easthampton MA has now happened at 95 Northampton St.! This abandoned house, which was quickly becoming an eyesore along Route 10, has now been demolished! It has been demolished to make way for the Sierra Vista Commons project, which will contain 10 3-story buildings, some being all apartments and many being mixed use with either businesses, industrial/warehouse usage, stores, or other usage. Other buildings expected in the project are a Roots daycare and gymnastics center, a pool, community garden, and 2 pad sites (likely will become sit-down restaurants).
Also, much of this is expected to be AFFORDABLE HOUSING, so we are NOT getting another Ferry St. situation!

Here was the building on 12/12/2022:

And now, lays its remains on 1/21/2023:

Even though it obviously was an eyesore, the building was actually demolished because the house was standing where the road to the future project is planned. Right in the former house's location is where the main road for the project is going to be, looking straight ahead in the second photo into the field.

The next discussion of the proposal will take place at the Planning Board at 50 Payson Ave. on the 2nd floor and via Google Meet on February 7, 2023 at 6PM EST, after it was postponed from its originally scheduled meeting on January 17, 2023.

If all passes and is approved, expect construction to begin summer or fall 2023 with completion by the end of 2028, through 4 phases, expected to be a 5 year project.

Here are the expected constructions throughout the phases of the 5 year project:
(And my projected time-frames for construction)

Phase 1: Summer 2023 - Fall 2024
Main road constructed, Roots gymnastics center and daycare to be constructed in Phase 1

Phase 2: Fall 2024 - Winter 2026
3 3-story buildings constructed (all apartments)

Phase 3: Winter 2026 - Spring 2027
4 3-story buildings constructed (all apartments), pool and community garden constructed, 1 of the 2 pad sites will be constructed, retail space will be constructed

Phase 4: Spring 2027 - Summer 2028
All remaining buildings will be constructed, being mixed use commercial and industrial, the 2nd pad site, along with the 3 other 3-story buildings that will be constructed.

Even though it may have some potential environmental impacts, I am in support of this project, however, this is a VERY ambitious project, at a location which has failed two projected projects, being a new Stop & Shop plaza in 2008-2010, before the project was killed in 2018. A new cannabis manufacturing facility was planned to be constructed here in 2020, but that never came to fruition either. (Luckily, for the oversaturated market, Cernak Buick closed across the street at the end of 2020, and the FyreAnts dispensary took over the site and opened in January 2022 and used all of the land and building except for Cernak Fuel) Hopefully, the third time is the charm, because this is a very important project for the area and, even though the past projects would have been good (I wouldn't have supported the weed factory there, though, and I wouldn't have supported the Stop & Shop as Easthampton MA already had Big E's Supermarket (And now River Valley Co-op as well, which opened on July 1, 2021, taking over the former Fedor Pontiac which closed in 2010, demolishing the entire site and building from scratch, the old building was very clearly deteriorated and had water damage that was visible on the walls) and Big Y also being less than quarter of a mile away from the Easthampton MA border in Southampton MA, only 2.5 miles away from the projected site for this new project, only 6 minutes driving distance, because of these reasons, there was almost no need for ANOTHER supermarket considering Big E's is only 0.7 miles from the site, practically walking distance, all potential reasons to why this site did not get these projected redevelopments.

I'm hoping this gets redeveloped, along with these addresses:
(Not including addresses that have already started redevelopment and/or demolition, such as 69 Union St., the old Manchester Hardware, which closed on November 10, 2020, and 47-49 Cottage St., which is currently approximately halfway complete. (Demolition was June 2022, and completion is expected August 2023, so we're in the middle right now, January 2023)

Addresses that NEED demolition and redevelopment:

118 Union St. (Hurry & Scurry)
ABANDONED SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME

72 Main St. (Moriarty & Moriarty)
ALSO ABANDONED SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME

9 Northampton St. (D&D Auto Parts, CarQuest)
ALSO ABANDONED SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME

125 Northampton St.
Nothing here! Just overgrowth! Either trim everything or put something there! There used to be a restaurant here, (Pollock's) but it was demolished between 2009 and 2013. There's been nothing here ever since.

150 Northampton St.
Abandoned since 2021. The clock is ticking... There was supposed to be a Japanese spa constructed here; where is it???

179 Northampton St.
Outdated medical complex. Now that CHD's days here are numbered (69 Union St, the old Manchester Hardware is going to be their new operation, and all operations here will cease!), there's not much here! Maybe something better could take its place?

385 Main St.
We got flags in the ground. We were ready. Then nothing happened! What happened? 🤔

52 Main St.
The old Bank Of America. Abandoned since approximately October 20, 2019. It looks like the Emily Williston Library may move operations to here instead. I was predicting Chase Bank was going to open here, but that's probably not going to happen. Would've been nice though!

Everything that's vacant in the vicinity of 1 Northampton St to the current library location, including the former schools.
Downtown itself is becoming an eyesore; same with Northampton MA. Do something!
If nothing changes, people will leave. Simple as that!

Anyways, hopefully, many, if not all, of these get redeveloped this year or sometime soon after that! Easthampton MA desperately needs it!
