DEMOLISHED! HURRY & SCURRY IS NO MORE!!!

Note: This post was originally scheduled to be published on the night of February 2, 2023, the day of the demolition. However, because I, a college student at Holyoke Community College (HCC) had to do some last minute studying (LOTS of stuff was due 2/2/23 at 11:55pm), I had to "Hurry & Scurry" to my college work, rather than writing about the actual demolition. Anyways, even though it's 8 days late now, here's my article regarding this historic demolition for Easthampton MA.

IT'S GONE! After I saw visible demo this morning driving by at precisely 9am with a fence by the building (which should have been there for YEARS), by a little after 1pm, the building was demolished to only a little bit of one wall standing! The building, which has been vacant since approximately November 4, 1998 (apparently the day they went out of business according to public records, 24 YEARS AGO), is now gone! It was only open from July 16, 1984 to November 4, 1998 according to public records, approximately 14 1/2 years, meaning it was abandoned for 10 YEARS MORE THAN IT WAS OPEN. And EVERYBODY I have met or asked HAVE NOT SEEN IT WHEN IT WAS OPEN!

This EYESORE has been RAZED to allow for construction of yet ANOTHER 2021-era project, this time being a mixed-use 2-story building, with 2 apartments on the 2nd floor and 2 businesses on the 1st floor. A very minor development, but SO MUCH BETTER than that EYESORE being there! So, expect construction to begin soon! I predict construction will start Spring 2023, and potentially finish by early 2024, so stay tuned!

BTW: If you want to see RARE, EXCLUSIVE FOOTAGE of Hurry & Scurry (and most of Easthampton MA) when IT WAS OPEN in 1990, watch the video below and/or skip to 1:23 and pause there.
(I would post a pic from his vid, but I'm not sure if this guy's footage is copyrighted, so I won't risk it)

This was the last pic I took of the site on February 2, 2023 at 9am, when demolition had just started:

Anyways, as of February 5, 2023, this is what the site looks like now:

Being empty is better than an eyesore being there!

Anyways, a happy and long-awaited ending for Easthampton MA!
